5 Romantic Things to Do on Hilton Head

Are you dreaming of the perfect day out with your significant other? What about an unforgettable evening on the town? Whether you live on Hilton Head or you’re just here for a visit, you’ll find that it’s the perfect place to ignite some romance. Think breathtaking views, incredible cuisine, and a variety of fun-filled activities that are perfect for couples. Whatever you and partner are in the mood for, you’ll find it here on the island.

If you’re looking to plan your next date, here are five romantic things to do on Hilton Head.

1) Sample some vino on Hilton Head

Here on Hilton Head, we know how to unwind. Sometimes, that means taking a moment to appreciate the finer things—like a fantastic glass of wine. At the Island Winery, you and your partner can enjoy a wine tasting along with a flavorful cheese plate. The vino is made of grapes from various regions, including Chile, Northern California, and (of course) South Carolina. The Carolina Tasting Room is another great local spot to sample some wine, as is Roller’s Wine & Spirits (which offers weekly tastings). Last but not least, Michael Anthony’s Cucina Italiana offers an award-winning wine list to go along with its incredible menu.

2) Get a couple’s massage

Nothing says relaxation like a massage. And if you’re looking to enjoy one with your partner, Hilton Head is the right place to do it. There’s no shortage of great spas on the island, but we recommend Hilton Head Heavenly Spa by Westin. This luxury gem offers couples a signature message followed by a salt or sugar scrub, along with a relaxing beverage and some soak time. Other local favorites include Le Spa at Sea Pines and Ahh Green Spa, both of which provide oasis-like environments and blissful side-by-side massages. Without a doubt, visiting a luxurious spa as a couple is one of the most romantic things to do on Hilton Head.

3) Take a walk on Hilton Head’s beaches

Hilton Head features 12 miles of pristine beaches along the Atlantic coast. To dial up the romance, choose a quieter stretch of waterfront. Folly Field Beach is a favorite among islanders in the know. The shoreline and soft sand dunes are gorgeous, and the wooded park nearby offers just enough seclusion for intimate conversation. Burkes Beach is also less busy than many Hilton Head beaches, making it another great option for a romantic walk. It’s worth noting that here on the island, we renourish our beaches every five years by replacing large quantities of sand. Many areas are pet-friendly, and some feature hard-packed that’s perfect for activities such as biking. Here are some other beaches in Hilton Head to consider.

4) Enjoy an intimate dinner

For many diners, exquisitely-crafted cuisine is synonymous with romance. If you’re planning a special night out with your significant other, consider Charlie’s L’étoile Verte. The sophisticated atmosphere, French-inspired dishes, and extensive wine list make it a wonderful place for date night. The Jazz Corner is another great option for couples. This well-known jazz club pairs great live music and ambiance with some of the best fine dining in the Lowcountry. You also can’t go wrong with the Ocean Lounge at Sea Pines. You’ll love the specialty cocktails, eclectic menu, and (of course) the romantic waterfront view.

5) Take a day trip to Daufuskie Island

If you’re looking to take a day trip with your special someone, Daufuskie Island is the place to go. In this sparsely-populated paradise, you won’t find any grocery chains or strip malls. What you will find is stunning natural beauty and rich history. Go on a tour, check out an art gallery, or try horseback riding at one of the local stables. Take in the stunning vistas (complete with stately live oak trees), then grab lunch at Old Daufuskie Crab Company. This gorgeous getaway is just a one-hour ferry ride away from Hilton Head—and trust us, it’s worth the trip and one of the best romantic things to do on Hilton Head!
