  • Hilton Head Beaches

    Hilton Head Beaches

All the world-famous white sandy beaches of Hilton Head Island, from the ocean to the high tide watermark, are public, but it’s the access to the beach that is private.  There are plenty of places to park your car, or bike, and enjoy the beach.  Each has its own parking available and there are designated swimming areas for Coligny, Driessen, Folly Field, and Island Beaches.  And during the beach summer, there will be lifeguards stationed at each location.
Hilton Head Island’s official beach season is April 1st through September 30th of each year.
Sea Pines Beach Club – a world-class beach club inside the gates of Sea Pines featuring a beautiful stretch of white sandy beach.  Surfside Market offers freshly made salads, sandwiches, and more. The Ocean Lounge, a stunning, second-floor bar offers incredible elevated views of the Atlantic Ocean.  For those who wish to enjoy fine dining, there is Coast, a beautifully appointed restaurant and oceanfront beach bar.
Sea  Pines has beach access paths about every tenth of a mile for property owners and guests staying in Sea Pines who choose to walk or bike to the beach.  The Sea Pines Beach Club is owned and operated by the Sea Pines Resort and is a lively gathering place for sand and water activities.

South Beach, Sea Pines – located in Sea Pines at the southernmost tip of Hilton Head Island.  It’s known for its stunning sunset, famous Salty Dog Cafe and Marina, and of course, its lovely white sandy beach and pavilion.
The area offers free transportation on the Sea Pines Trolley.

Adler Lane –  Adler Lane beach access is just off South Forest Beach Drive.  Bring some quarters, because there is metered parking just across the street. You’ll find handicap beach matting, outdoor showers, restrooms, and seasonal lifeguards.

Burkes Beach – is located at the end of Burkes Beach Road.  Burkes Beach isa large, serene stretch of public beach with a handful of metered parking spaces and outdoor showers. It’s located right next to Chaplin Community Park, making it one of the best beaches to visit on a bike, especially since that bike will get you down the sand pathway to the beach much quicker.  Plus there are plenty of paved trails leading to the park, which boast several wide-open fields, basketball and tennis courts, and even a dog park!

Coligny Beach Park – It’s just off Coligny Circle across from the beach and is one of the island’s best beaches along with a plaza full of great places for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Search for souvenirs in fun shops, find the perfect bathing suit in one of the small boutiques, enjoy the island’s most decadent pleasure at the fudge shop, and indulge in your favorite flavor at the ice cream shop.

Driessen Beach – just a turn off of Hwy, 278 onto Bradley Beach Road and you will reach Driessen Beach. The path to the beach is long but it’s fine because there are plenty of stops on the way.  You will find restrooms and showers, a pavilion with picnic tables, and a charcoal grill perfect for groups hungry for burgers and hotdogs and all other grilled meals.  Finally, there’s a great playground with slides and monkey bars for the kids.

Fish Haul Beach – is located just off Beach City Road and has one of the most natural beaches on the island. Fish haul Beach Park is sure to please with its beauty, easy beach access, and restroom facilities. Here you will enjoy 16 acres where shoreline and marshes come together with an observation deck out over the marshes, where tons of fiddler crabs scurry about. A pavilion with picnic tables makes a great spot to stop for lunch.  There are grassy spots, rocks, sandbars, and a white sandy beach waiting to be explored.

Folly Field Beach Park- a tranquil beach located just off Folly Field Road with restrooms and outdoor showers, plus seasonal umbrella and lounge chair rentals. It’s found along the northern half of Hilton Head Island, and is located in a mainly residential neighborhood, and is known informally by residents and long-time visitors alike as a “local’s beach.”  Seldom overcrowded, with parking spots that are almost hidden by a line of live oaks and Palmettos, the park is a favorite for new and seasoned vacationers alike. It features ample stretches of shoreline located just a stone’s throw from the wooded park’s entrance. It’s gorgeous, very convenient, and newcomers would do well to find this almost secretive spot for a fun day at the seashore.

Islanders Beach Park– a place to go and relax for the entire day.  Islanders beach park is outfitted with all you need, including a picnic pavilion, grill, playground, and restrooms. Located on Folly Field Road, it’s one of the best-kept secrets on the island.

5 Ways You Can Help Your Community During the Coronavirus

Coronavirus disease COVID-19 has affected all of our daily lives. Not only has it affected our lives, but it has hurt every local business, restaurant, and non-profit in our community. We are living in uncertain times with government officials telling us to stay home and social distance so that we can keep our loved ones safe. As we remain safe and keep our families healthy, our local businesses and non-profits that we cherish are suffering.

This uncertainty has left many feeling lonely with little to do to stay occupied. The positive side is that we have more time to spend with our immediate family and catch up with friends on platforms like Zoom and social media. Our free time also gives us a chance to help our neighbors and local businesses. We put together a list of things you and your family can do to help our community during these unprecedented and trying times.

How to Help Hilton Head Businesses and Charities During COVID-19

    Local charities

We may not be able to give our time by being present, but we can call non-profits and ask if they need our time in other ways. Maybe we can help them with their social media or make phone calls for them. We can give our yearly donations now, and consider giving a bit more this year. Animal shelters always need blankets, towels, and dog food. You can let them know you will be leaving your donation at the door so that you won’t come in contact with anyone keeping them and you safe.

Another way you can help animal shelters is by fostering pets or even adopting. Quite a few people have recently fostered pets and then decided to adopt them.

    Local restaurants

There are a few ways you can help local restaurants. Many restaurants in Hilton Head are providing curbside delivery. You can order breakfast, lunch, and dinner from your favorite restaurants. You can order a meal for a friend or neighbor. This is a great way to brighten someone’s day during these difficult times. Another way you can help your local restaurants is by purchasing gift certificates. Hand out restaurant gift certificates to friends, family, and neighbors.

Restaurant Crowdfunds-find out if your local restaurants have created a crowdfund for their staff. This way, you can help the wait staff stay on their feet until the restaurant reopens. Find out which restaurants are providing curbside pick-up here.

    Local stores

Local businesses are suffering, but there are ways we can help them as well. You can buy a few gift cards and give them to friends, family, and neighbors. If you have a niece or cousin that is lonely and needs a boost, send him or her a gift card from one of our wonderful local stores. Community

Local hospitals and health care workers

There are a few things you can do to help your local hospitals. You can order lunch or dinner for the hospital staff from a local restaurant. A box of brownies or fruit can go a long way in raising spirits. A couple of essential things hospitals need today are masks and gloves. If you have extra gloves or masks, you may want to consider donating them to a local hospital.

    Neighbors

If you have elderly neighbors, check in on them by calling. Make sure they are okay. Help them feel connected by Facetiming or talking on the phone. Ask if they need anything from the supermarket or drugstore. If they do, you can drop groceries off at their door or help them order groceries online.

Another way you can help our community is by purchasing a Sea Pines Cares Package. The Sea Pines Resort has created a special package of discounts that will raise funds for resort employees whose jobs have been affected by COVID-19, a portion of the proceeds from the Sea Pines Cares Package will go to the RBC Heritage Classic Foundation, which raises about $3 million dollars a year for local charities.

    Social distancing

One of the best ways you can help your community today is proper social distancing. Stay home, don’t go to social gatherings, or host social gatherings. You can go for a walk and follow the CDC guidelines about the proper way to social distance. The most important thing is that we all stay healthy and safe during this pandemic. We will get through this challenging time together.
