    Once a year, in mid-summer, the sea island that holds Beaufort becomes a gigantic stage for one of the South’s biggest outdoor events. Successful from its beginning, the Beaufort Water Festival has grown each year in importance and entertainment value, but is still worked as a community, non-profit project.  The first Festival was held in July 1956, with John Bigbee serving as the first President and Gladys Thompson in charge of the visiting queens.  The Lions Club took the job of putting on the first parade and has been doing so every year since.

Meet in the parking lot adjacent to the Quarterdeck at 8:30am to register and pick up decorating supplies. Parade lineup begins promptly at 9:30am and entries will be judged on patriotism. Supplies limited to first 100 registered. Following the parade, join us for some holiday fun and activities.

    The flat and fast Shamrock 5K Run / Walk race course starts on Pope Avenue, near the front of New York City Pizza at Heritage Plaza. The event finishes inside Coligny Plaza. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day during Hilton Head Island’s Running of the Green. The 5K Run / Walk will start at 8:00am.

    It’s Fun to Run in Green. We encourage everyone to run or walk in St. Patty’s Colors. The Shamrock 5K is a fun and healthy St. Patrick’s Day family tradition. A percentage of proceeds from the event will go to benefit Sunset Rotary Club of HH.

    HHI Jingle Jingle 5K – December 24

    The Hilton Head Island Bridge Run and The Hilton Head Jingle Jingle Run are now one great race. Introducing The Hilton Head Island Jingle Jingle Bridge Run!

    The 5K & 10K will be held on Friday Dec 24th at 8am. Both distances will start and finish at Crossing’s Park and take participants over the scenic Broad Creek on the Cross Island Expressway.

    Join on the May River for the New Year 2024 Paddle Meetup! Meet at the Bluffton Oyster Factory Dock for a fun, active and social paddle through the Lowcountry Waterways! There will be a paddle guide on the water (Rachel and/or Parker) accompanying the group and attending to those who are renting boards and equipment.

    Island Rec’s Beer Mile – September 15

    Bring a friend and take part in Island Rec Center’s 2nd Beer Mile! The beer mile is the ultimate feat of athleticism and drinking prowess. Each competitor drinks four cans or bottles of beer and runs four laps around Lowcountry Celebration Park. Start with drinking a beer, then run a lap, then beer, then lap, then beer, then lap, then beer, then lap – finish. Each competitor must have a designated driver to participate. Additional beer available for purchase at the afterparty.

    PEP Gala & Silent Auction – September 16

    Few post-high school options exist for adults who live with special needs. PEP provides an outstanding day program that promotes independence, social interaction, and employment opportunities for intellectually disabled adults. PEP receives less than 50% of its operating budget from government funding.  The balance is met through the generosity of the community through grants, donors, and fundraising events, such as this Gala. Join this year’s Gala at the Convention Center at Hilton Head Marriott Resort and Spa.

    The 38th Annual Kiwanis Club of Hilton Head Island Chili Cook Off & Jeep Island Presented by Hampton by Hilton will take place from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Coastal Discovery Museum. The event raises much-needed funding for local youth charities. Chili cooks will face off to determine the best concoctions in Professional, Amateur, and People’s Choice categories. Winners will earn cash prize donations to the local youth charity of their choice. The Jeep Island expo is a stunning array of Jeeps from around the nation – a must-see for any Jeep enthusiast.
