At 5:15 in the evening, the first dinner reservations are seated at The Jazz Corner in Suite C1 of the Village at Wexford. The band starts at 6:30. At 8:00 a second round of dinner reservations comes in, and the late show starts at 9:00. The two seatings repeat with almost no gaps through October and November 2026. That gives the shopping center just outside Wexford's gate a dependable evening schedule. The other businesses on these walkways fit their own hours around it.
The island's big fall events will still pull people to Coligny, Shelter Cove and Port Royal. The steady part of the season is much closer to home, and it follows the day of the week.
Two Seatings, and the Rules That Come With Them
The club's FAQ lists two dinner shows each night, at 6:30 and 9:00 p.m., with the room open from 5:15 to 10:30. Dinner reservations are seated in 15-minute intervals before each show. The FAQ explains that the room is small, so every guest with a reservation is asked to have dinner. If you only want the music or drinks and appetizers, seating is first come, first served. Walk-ins are welcome when dinner reservations haven't filled the room.
A few more policies matter when you're planning:
- Tickets are final. The FAQ says to email [email protected] in an emergency.
- Groups larger than 10 should email to book instead of using the online system.
- Dress is resort wear or smart casual.
- The cork fee is $25 per bottle.
The early seating on the bigger weekends fills well ahead. On the October 9 listing for the Jocelyn Gould Quartet, the 6:30 show was already marked sold out in early October. The 9:00 show was still listed as available, with tickets at $25 to $30. If the early seating is full, the late show at the same club is the next option.
A Week With a Set Schedule
From Sunday through Thursday, the club runs regular residencies that repeat each week through the fall. Once you know the pattern, the day of the week tells you what's playing:
- Sundays: Deas Guyz. The band plays jazz alongside Motown, R&B, pop, rock, reggae and dance music. Dates run every Sunday from October 4 through November 29.
- Mondays: Martin Lesch Presents: A Journey Through Jazz. A trio or quintet that covers a range of styles, with Jackson Evans, Chris Russell, Stutz Wimmer, Tyrone Mack and guests. It runs every Monday from October 5 through November 30.
- Tuesdays: Fat Tuesdays: A Swinging Celebration of New Orleans and Beyond. The Jazz Corner Ensemble with rotating guests, every Tuesday from October 6 through November 24.
- Wednesdays alternate between two shows. Quiana Parler with Lavon Stevens plays October 7 and 21 and November 4 and 18. Bobby Ryder Swings The Great American Songbook fills October 14 and 28 and November 11 and 25.
- Thursdays belong to Lavon Stevens. Lavon Stevens Presents: The Soundtrack of Our Lives, with Candice Rae, plays October 8 and 22 and covers jazz, blues, soul, R&B and contemporary songs. Lavon Stevens and Friends Present: Jazz in the Key of Life plays October 15 and 29 and November 5, 12 and 19. It draws on music associated with Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Al Jarreau and Johnny Mercer.
Several of these players live and work in the Lowcountry. The October 9 show notes describe guitarist Jackson Evans as "a staple of the Low Country jazz community." He's on the faculty of the Hilton Head Jazz Camp and the board of The Junior Jazz Foundation, and he also appears in the Monday Martin Lesch band. Many of the weeknight residencies are played by local musicians you'll see more than once over the season.
Fridays and Saturdays Bring Touring Acts
On weekends the schedule changes. Most Friday and Saturday pairs feature a visiting act. Each one plays both nights, which gives you two chances at each show if you can't get the date you want.
| Weekend | Headliner | Of note |
|---|---|---|
| Oct 9–10 | Jackson Evans Presents the Jocelyn Gould Quartet | Gould's debut album was a 2021 JUNO nominee for Jazz Album of the Year |
| Oct 16–17 | Quentin E. Baxter Presents: Jazz Royalty | Grammy-winning vocalist Carmen Bradford's Quartet |
| Oct 23–24 | Ulysses Owens Jr. Presents Barry Greene's Organ Trio | Billed as a "GIANTS" album release, with Pat Bianchi |
| Oct 30–31 | Svetlana & The Delancey Five | "A Night at The Speakeasy" on Halloween weekend |
| Nov 6–7 | Brittany Turnipseed sings Ella Fitzgerald | With Mark Rapp and Rod Foster & Company |
| Nov 13–14 | Professor GROOVE!, the Leon Anderson Quartet | Introduces vocalist Eden Rewa and honors John Coltrane |
| Nov 20–21 | New Orleans All-Star Swing | Duke Heitger, Evan Christopher, Hal Smith, Kris Tokarski |
| Nov 27–28 | Noel & Maria's "50 Ways to Swing Your Simon" | A Simon & Garfunkel tribute with guest vocalist Ray Greene |
Thanksgiving week also follows the Friday and Saturday pattern. The Simon & Garfunkel tribute falls on the two nights after the holiday, when many households have guests in town. Families hosting at home could book it in advance.
A Room Built by One Family
The schedule stays this consistent partly because the club has stayed with one family. Bob and Lois Masteller opened The Jazz Corner on March 30, 1999. Bob died in 2015, and the club marked its 25th anniversary with a concert in 2024. That same year, the Jazz Journalists Association named Lois Masteller a Jazz Hero and credited her and Bob with the club's success. The citation also noted DownBeat's recognition of the club among its great jazz rooms.
A profile from the club's ticketing company names David Masteller as owner and describes Lois still greeting guests. The same profile says the club replaced handwritten reservations and seating charts with online booking, where guests choose their own seats. That's how the October and November dates above can be checked and reserved show by show, weeks ahead.
The Village's own directory lists the room as one of the "TOP 150 Great Jazz Rooms in the World."
Starbird Stays Open Later
The Jazz Corner closes at 10:30. Starbird Spirits & Bites, in Unit J-7C, stays open later. The Island Packet reported on October 1 that Starbird is open from 4 to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and from 4 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
This month Starbird is also hosting The Haunting, a Halloween pop-up cocktail bar running October 1 through October 31. Miracle Cocktails Inc. developed the menu, and the Packet reports it is the company's first Halloween-themed pop-up. There are 10 cocktails, a shot and two nonalcoholic drinks. Each comes in a themed glass, such as the Liquid Lobotomy, served in a head-shaped glass. Guests can buy the glasses to take home. The decor features cobwebbed shelves and flickering candlelight.
On Halloween weekend, both businesses have something on. Svetlana & The Delancey Five's speakeasy show plays The Jazz Corner on October 30 and 31, and The Haunting runs through October 31.
Before the Show, and the Next Morning
Dinner at The Jazz Corner is part of the ticket, so a night there doesn't require a separate restaurant booking. The rest of the Village covers the hours around it. The directory lists OMBRA Cucina Rustica in G2 for classical Italian fine dining and Nonna Marie's in G1 for handmade gelato. It also lists British Open Pub in D3, Java Burrito Co. in J6 for Mexican food and specialty coffee, and Cowboy Brazilian Steakhouse in B5.
Mornings changed this year. Nosh NY Bagels, whose original shop is in Ridgeland, opened its second location in Suite E1 over Memorial Day weekend. You can order online and pick up at a grab-and-go window instead of waiting in line. The loxsmith sandwich, with smoked nova, scallion cream cheese, red onion, cucumber and capers, is a popular order, and gluten-free bread is available. The center's August directory doesn't list Nosh yet, so Nosh's own locations page is the better place to check hours.
The shops have changed too. CH2 reported in December 2025 that Pink Pineapple had moved to Suite D4. Owner Susan Davis called it her third location and her favorite. The Village has also hosted Wine Down Wednesday for a Cause, a monthly evening with wine tastings, in-store demos, live music and light appetizers, with proceeds going to local groups such as the Sea Turtle Patrol. The most recent date we found was May 6, 2026. The center's Village Happenings page currently asks visitors to check back for upcoming events, so look there closer to the time.
When the Island's Calendar Overlaps
Because the Village schedule is so predictable, it's easy to see where the island's big events fall against it. The Town of Hilton Head Island's Crescendo announcement lists its tenth annual arts and culture celebration from October 9 through November 22, with more than 100 programs. Several of the largest events land on nights when a known act plays near home:
- Wednesday, October 14. Crescendo's kickoff runs 5 to 7 p.m. at Shelter Cove Community Park, with Mark Rapp and the Soda City Band. The same night, Bobby Ryder plays The Great American Songbook at The Jazz Corner.
- Friday, October 23. Crescendo's free Songwriter Show runs 6 to 8 p.m. at Lowcountry Celebration Park, the same night as the first of Barry Greene's two Organ Trio shows.
- October 30 through November 1. The Concours schedule includes a Taylor Hicks concert on Port Royal Golf Club's 18th fairway on October 30, the Car Club Showcase on October 31 and the Concours itself on November 1. The island's events calendar describes November 1 as judging day, with historic and collectible cars shown on the field at 10 Club Drive.
- November 6 and 7. The Oyster Festival opens Friday evening at Shelter Cove Community Park and moves to Lowcountry Celebration Park on Saturday. Brittany Turnipseed sings Ella Fitzgerald at The Jazz Corner both nights.
- Saturday, November 14. The Hilton Head Island Lantern Parade starts at 5:45 p.m. on South Forest Beach and ends at Lowcountry Celebration Park, the second night of the Leon Anderson Quartet's Coltrane program.
The two-night bookings help on these dates. If the Oyster Festival takes your Friday, the Ella program plays again Saturday. If the Lantern Parade takes your Saturday, the Coltrane program plays Friday. The Town's announcement doesn't list The Jazz Corner as a Crescendo venue, so treat the club's fall shows as its own regular schedule.
